Cold-climate capacity

Daikin’s FIT Aurora DH9 matches with the CAPEA coil, and the stronger Moovair cold-climate matches, are on NRCan’s list for Manitoba and Yukon. The rows below are the ones checked. A family name is not the row.

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Rows, not a brand claim

Yukon’s air-source rebates point at NRCan’s cold-climate list for Manitoba and Yukon. On that list the brand filter DAIKIN returned 868 rows and MOOVAIR returned 189. Neither count is a recommendation. A quote has to carry the AHRI number and the indoor and outdoor model numbers, and those have to match a row. Search the list

The Daikin example on this page is the FIT Aurora 24 and 36, outdoor models DH9VSA241CA* and DH9VSA361CA*, with the CAPEA cased coil. The list does not spell CAPEA. It prints the coil as CA*EA4830*3A* on the 24 and CA*EA6030*3A* on the 36. CAHEA and CHPEA are written out in full on other rows, so this wildcard is the CAPEA coil. Both rows also name the furnace D*96TC1005CNA*. A different furnace with the same coil is a different AHRI number. The 48 and 60 are not the example. The list prints an asterisk on the model number. That asterisk is part of the row. Equipment also has to be bought in Canada. The list says the tables were last updated on August 7, 2026.

FIT Aurora with the CAPEA coil

Two rows, the 24 and the 36, on one furnace. The figures are the list. Spec sheet for the outdoor family’s heating range, which the list does not print.

Furnace on both rows: D*96TC1005CNA*. Rated heating is 22,000 and 32,600 Btu/h. The milder HSPF2 on these same rows is 9.2. The column above is the cold-climate HSPF2. The “up to 10 HSPF2” line is a different indoor match, not these two.

Against the listing bar

A cold-climate row has to clear every line: HSPF2 at least 6.6, SEER2 at least 15.2, capacity maintenance at least 70 percent, COP at least 1.8 at −15°C at maximum capacity, and a variable-speed compressor. NRCan

  • HSPF2 on both rows is 7.6. That is above 6.6.
  • SEER2 is 19.2 and 19. Both are above 15.2.
  • Capacity kept is 100 percent on both, against a 70 percent bar.
  • COP at −15°C at maximum capacity is 2 on both. That is above 1.8.

The October 2025 spec sheet rates the DH9 outdoor family for heating from −20°F to 70°F, which is −28.9°C to 21.1°C. That range is not a list column. The capacity-kept figures in the table are the list, not the sheet’s max-heat lines, which are for other indoor matches.

Ductless Aurora, not the example

Five wall matches print the series name AURORA. They are the ductless line, not the example above. Outdoor models are RXT09AVJU* through RXT24AVJU*, with indoor models FTXV09AVJU* through FTXV24AVJU*. Catalog

Rated heating on these rows is 10,900, 13,500, 18,300, 21,600, and 24,000 Btu/h. HSPF2 of 6.9 on the 24k is above 6.6. It is the closest of these five to the line. COP is 1.8 on every row, which is the minimum, not a margin.

Moovair cold-climate wall rows

The wall examples are Morelis and Meridian. Mistral heats to −25°C in the same brochure and is not the example. M28 and M42 are earlier families. They are not the examples either. The numbers in the cells are the list. The brochure’s COP column is at 8.3°C, not the listing COP at −15°C. M-Series brochure, February 2026

Rated heating is 12,000 and 20,000 Btu/h. A third list row, MSHHA24C2AN1 / MWHHA24C2AS1, AHRI 218002297, is rated heating 24,000, HSPF2 8.5, SEER2 25, COP 2.17, capacity kept 83 percent. The February 2026 spec table used here does not print that 24k, so no heating range is copied onto it.

Meridian

Six wall matches. The brochure’s HSPF2 column prints 9.5, 8, 8.5, 8.5, 9.8, and 8.6. Those are the list’s HSPF2 numbers.

Rated heating is 12,000, 12,000, 15,400, 18,000, 29,000, and 36,000 Btu/h. The asterisk on the 15k indoor model is part of the row. COP of 1.8 on the 09k and 12k is the minimum. The brochure says Meridian delivers 100 percent heating capacity at −15°C. The list does not say that for every size. Capacity kept here is 95, 95, 113, 100, 83, and 97 percent.

Central air handlers

Six Central-Moov matches use the air handler, not a coil. Brochure HSPF2 matches the list: 8, 8, 8.3, 8.6, 8, and 8. Central-Moov brochure

Rated heating is 19,000, 24,000, 34,000, 37,000, 50,000, and 56,000 Btu/h. The 60k COP of 1.8 is the minimum. The brochure says these systems can achieve up to 100 percent of rated capacity at −20°C. That is not the list test. List capacity kept, at −15°C, is 94, 90, 95, 105, 92, and 92 percent.

Add-on coils

The same outdoor model with a cased coil is a different AHRI number from the air handler above. These six cased-coil rows were read. Uncased coils, model numbers starting with GUH, are further rows. One uncased 18k, GUHMA24RBAS1, printed the same four ratings as the cased 18k. That does not make the model numbers interchangeable. The Central-Moov spec table does not print these coil rows, so its heating range is not copied onto them.

Rated heating is 19,000, 25,000, 30,000, 38,000, 48,000, and 58,000 Btu/h. The 24k outdoor with this coil is rated 25,000 Btu/h. The same outdoor with the air handler is rated 24,000. The 24k coil COP is 1.8. SEER2 of 15.2 on the 48k and 60k coils is the minimum. HSPF2 of 6.8 on the 60k coil is the closest Moovair row on this page to 6.6.

Myriad+ multi-zone

The list leaves the indoor model blank and files the row as non-ducted, ducted, or mixed. This table is the non-ducted row. Brochure non-ducted HSPF2 is 8.5, 8.5, 8.5, and 9, which matches these four. A ducted or mixed quote is a different AHRI number. On the search, the 27k ducted row’s rated heating was 28,000 Btu/h, not the 27,000 on the non-ducted row. Myriad brochure

Rated heating on these non-ducted rows is 20,000, 27,000, 36,000, and 49,000 Btu/h. The indoor heads on the quote still have to be the combination the row was certified with. The blank indoor field is not permission to pair any head.

Cut-out, from the catalog, not from the list

The list does not print a low-temperature cut-out, and it does not print capacity at −20°C or −25°C. Those sentences come from the manufacturer’s own sheet, and they are labeled as such.

Aurora’s wall-mount catalog headline says up to 100 percent of rated heating at 5°F (−15°C) and continuous operation to −13°F (−25°C). The specification table does not print a separate maximum-at−25°C Btu column, so this page does not invent one. The table’s heating range is −13°F to 65°F wet-bulb. The feature text on the previous catalog page says −13°F to 60°F. Same document, two ceilings. The table is the one used here. CT-ZONE 02-26

A specified cut-out of −25°C means the machine is published as able to run at −20°C. It does not mean it can carry a particular house at −20°C. Yukon’s dual-fuel terms still require a whole-building size and a balance point of −20°C or colder, and the air-source unit has to be the list row, not the brochure. Terms The catalog does not print capacity at −20°C. The number between −15°C and −25°C is not guessed here.

The Aurora catalog table recommends an optional drain-pan heater where the outdoor temperature may fall below 5°F (−15°C), or in heavy snow or high winter humidity. Whitehorse’s January design temperature is well below that note.

For the Morelis 12k and 18k, and for every Meridian size in the table above, the February 2026 brochure prints a heating range of −30°C to 24°C, and −22°F to 75°F. Those two lines are the same span. The Morelis page also says the family delivers 100 percent heating capacity at −20°C, and that the 12,000 Btu/h unit delivers over 12,000 Btu/h at −20°C outside and 21°C inside. That is a brochure sentence. The list’s 112 percent for that 12k is maximum heat at −15°C divided by rated heating. They are not the same test. M-Series brochure

Central-Moov air handlers and Myriad+ outdoor units print −30°C to 24°C, and −22°F to 75°F. Central-Moov Myriad None of those ranges is a capacity at −20°C for every size, and none of them is a balance point. The coil rows do not appear on the air-handler table, so they do not inherit that range from this page.

“Hyper-Heat” is another manufacturer’s trade name. It is not an NRCan category, and it is not a Daikin or Moovair model. This page does not use it as the example.
